The Google Book Settlement and European authors

Today's FT reports that the German government has lodged its opposition to the deal between Google and US publishers, and might be followed by other European governments. The deadline for authors anywhere to opt out of the deal is Friday 4 September. For those interested, here is a document about the settlement and the considerations authors need to take into account, written by Gillian Spraggs. She makes it plain she is not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. I thought it a very clear and good summary.
